Quick Facts

Soybean, known by the scientific name Glycine Max, are grown from seed planted in rows in the field and can grow well on a wide variety of soils and climates. It takes about 4-7 days after planting to start growing and about 90 and 150 days after sowing to mature. It consists of more than 36% protein, 30% carbohydrates, and excellent amounts of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It also consists of 20% oil, which makes it the most important crop for producing edible oil.

The soya beans without being processed can be used in making soy milk or soya milk which is one of the most popular drinks in Nigeria and some African countries.

Aids in the prevention of type 2 diabetes and other chronic health issues by reducing the resistance of insulin in the body and at the same time increasing the synthesis of the insulin receptors.

It helps in suppressing appetite thereby eliminating the possible chances of feeling hungry or overeating which in turns helps in weight loss and healthy weight gain too because of the presence of fiber and protein content. It is also used for industrial purposes like in ink, paint, and solvents manufacturing.

The need to plug into the soybean production value chain, as a way to support the production of food for the rapidly increasing population of our country is not just expedient for sustainable food production for Nigeria, but also presents a unique investment opportunity.

Currently, Groforte Edge Ltd has acquired, on lease, an 80 hectares (200 acres) farmland in southwest, Nigeria for the purpose of cultivating high breed soybeans.

Consequently, we will be cultivating high breed soybeans that have high demand for industrial use. The farmland is now being ploughed and we estimate planting to be completed by mid-August.
